    Description

    1972 J “In Munchen” Munich Olympic Silver coin issued by Germany.  The series was produced to celebrate the 20th Olympiad held in Munich, Germany during 1972. The games were overshadowed by the Munich massacre in which eleven Israeli athletes and coaches, and a German police officer, were killed by a terrorist organization known as Black September.
    The Series V replaces the near legendary “In Deutschland” coins save for the obverse legend reads “in Munich” instead “in Germany”.
    The obverse displays the emblem of the Munich Summer Games.
    The reverse depicts a highly stylized German Eagle with the denomination below.
    The coin is struck in a composition of 62.5% silver and have a weight of 15.50 grams and diameter of 33 mm.
