KM 182, one year type, for the 50th anniversary of the attempted assassination of Adolf Hitler, and the overthrow of Nazi control, during World War II. Because the attempt involved a number of German officers, including Rommel, it is sometimes called "The Generals' Plot".  The movie "Valkyrie" is based upon this event.  Proof half dollar size silver coin.  Coin only.
A bomb (in a briefcase) was placed under the table in a conference room filled with about 20 officers and Hitler.  At the last moment, someone moved the briefcase behind a leg of table, which saved the lives of Hitler and a number of officers, most of whom were wounded.  A stenographer and three officers died of the blast.  The Gestapo eventually arrested nearly 7,000 people, and nearly 5,000 were executed.  Rommel was given the choice of taking poison or having his entire family arrested and tried.
